Birmingham

From the President and Secretary of the International Society of Neuropathology

On behalf of the International Society of Neuropathology, we have great pleasure in inviting you to attend the XIVth International Congress in Birmingham, UK, in September 2000. At the advent of a new millennium, rapid developments in basic research in neuropathology have great implications for the understanding of causes and effects of diseases afflicting the nervous system and muscle. Applied research in neuropathology is equally strong and steadily improves the accuracy of our diagnostic work. Participation in this congress will enable you to meet neuroscientists and colleagues from all over the world and to present and discuss your own ideas and data.

YOUR contribution is very important for the continuing development of neuropathology as a profession and as a field of research! We look forward to seeing you in Birmingham.

From the British Neuropathological Society

On behalf of the British Neuropathological Society we warmly invite you to the XIVth International Congress of Neuropathology in the Historic City of Birmingham 3-6 September 2000. A programme of keynote lectures, symposia and workshops of high educational value has been compiled by international teams of neuropathologists. Speakers in these sessions are among the world leaders in their fields. Keynote lecturers will give an overview of rapidly advancing areas of neuropathology and neuroscience and plenary lecturers and symposia will seek to create order from the deluge of disparate data that recent research has generated. In contrast, workshops are designed to examine the validity of many established concepts in neuropathology and neuroscience and to provoke a fresh approach at the start of the new Millennium.

A particular feature of the Congress will be the two-hour poster session from 12.00-14.00 each day for the display and presentation of new data in the fields of basic neuroscience, neuropathology and clinical neuroscience. Targeted discussions of the posters will take place in the Hot Topics at Tea-Time sessions at 16.30 each day. There will be ample time during the evenings for social contact and further exchange of ideas.

Satellite symposia, both before and after the Congress, have been arranged in Oxford, Dublin, Birmingham and London.

Bring your family to join us in Birmingham 3-6 September 2000 for what promises to be a stimulating and enjoyable XIVth International Congress of Neuropathology, and to explore the cities and countryside of Britain in pre- or post-congress tours
