Several satellite meetings have been arranged to take place both before and after the main Congress.

Pre-Congress Satellite Symposia


Oxford UK

1. Schizophrenia.

This Satellite reviewed the current status of the neuropathology of schizophrenia. The programme is still available to download as a WORD document or an Acrobat file

2. Dementia

This Satellite reviewed recent progress in dementia research and took a look forward to likely future developments. The programme is also available to download as a WORD document or an Acrobat file

3. Developmental Neuropathology.

This Satellite examined current aspects of developmental neuropathology, including brain development and its control, diagnostic dilemmas with a one day multi-disciplinary symposium on developmental causes of epilepsy. Emerging Roles for Inflammation in CNS Injury and Disease

The aim of this Satellite was to discuss the contribution that the host inflammatory response makes to the pathogenesis of a broad-spectrum of neuropathologies, which unlike multiple sclerosis, are not traditionally considered to have a significant inflammatory component.

Role of mitochondria in Parkinson’s disease

This Satellite concentrated on causes and consequences of mitochondrial dysfunction in PD. Special emphasis was placed on mitochondrial genetics and the role of mitochondria in the regulation of cell death mechanisms.
